For diabetic patients, walking a in group produced benefits over and above counseling:
… in subjects who attended at least 50% of scheduled walking sessions, changes in A1C and fasting glucose were greater than in control subjects.
Discontinuation or reduction of antidiabetic drugs occurred in 33% of these patients versus 5% of control subjects.
Think you don’t have diabetes? Check! – remember, 1/2 of diabetics don’t even know they have the disease, and overweight/obesity makes it much more likely.
