THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!

Washington DC’s Elsie Whitlow Stokes School honored by The Alliance For A Healthier Generation for efforts to combat childhood obesity:

Students are moving more thanks to 150 minutes per week of physical activity, 30 minutes of recess per day and more activities in afterschool programs.

The food service department has added a salad bar and more local foods to the menu.

They have added six weeks of health education to the curriculum and worked on integrating health topics into other core subjects.

Staff members are also enjoying the changes, especially a yoga class and walking/running club.
