JEE ellipticalEveryone would love a medication to promote weight loss.  Remember phen-fen?  Made people zombies, and gave some people heart valve problems that required surgery.  More recently, Rimonabant, developed by Sanofi-Aventis, never reached the U.S. market because it produced suicidal thoughts and depression.

A new generation of weight loss drugs are approaching FDA decisions on approval, but they aren’t sure bets to be approved.  (I know the process, having served on several FDA Advisory Panels.)
