Oh, no! The holidays are coming… 5 survival tips

  1. Get together with a group of friends and have a “weight loss pool.”  Everyone kicks in “x” amount of money, and the one who looses the most weight (or greatest percentage, or whatever you want…) wins the kitty.  Not only is there a $$ incentive, but now you’re building group support.
  2. East some healthy protein before going to a holiday party.  (For me, this is often canned sardines, with hot sauce).  I generally eat before parties, then either eat nothing, or snack on raw veggies, once I get there.
  3. Weigh yourself daily so that 5 lbs don’t suddenly sneak up on you!
  4. Start or keep walking!  Outside with warm clothes, or at the gym, or in the mall, or at the local school, or…
  5. Resist piling on financial stress.  Make a budget and a shopping list before you go shopping… and stick to it!
