How much weight gain is healthy during pregnancy?

Mothers who gained more than roughly 20lbs during pregnancy gave birth to larger babies.  This may predispose their babies to diabetes and high blood pressure later in life.

Excessive weight gain in moms can produce diabetes in the mom, premature labor, and a host of other maternal problems.

Now, my mom was 5’2″ and weighed 105 lbs – what’s my excuse???
