I attended an annual meeting of researchers in my field (anesthesiology). I hadn’t been in a few years. While I’d seen many of the people there during and since my weight loss, others hadn’t seen me. There aren’t too many African Americans in the organization, so I stand out some.
People would look at my name tag and then say, “Oh, shit! Is that you, John?” And I’d answer, “yes, and I said hello to you earlier, but you didn’t recognize me!”
Feels great. In the long run, feels better than ice cream tastes good.
