How I Lost 100 lbs
Dr. Ellis, a 53 year old anesthesiologist, lost 120 lbs over 18 months by retraining his brain (and pancreas) by altering his diet and adding regular exercise to his regime. Be the tortoise, not the hare!

Hi Dr. Ellis. Thank you for giving me hope. I’m on a journey to lose 125 lbs as well. I’m 250 lbs trying to weigh 120. I’m 5’2″ female. I’m 46 years old with diabetes. I’m doing little changes every day to try to get the weight off to best of my ability, but sometimes i feel like I’m just bullshitting myself. I think I should just pick a plan, stick to in and cry all I want, but don’t veer from the plan. Is that what you had to do? It seems when i make extreme changes and do that for a bit, I end up breaking the diet and going hog wild gaining back everything I lost plus more. Which way did you go? what were your first thoughts when you sat there weighing 125 lbs overweight. Was there a moment the light bulb went on and you did it no matter what? Or did you gradually do things over time. I have started by doing 30 minutes of exercise every day. I have done it now for two weeks and only have managed to gain 2 lbs. BAH. Would like to be your friend on facebook. I’m anonymous because i feel so ashamed of my weight.
Grace-I’ve just been diagnosed as diabetic, and I’m on the journey, too. For me, to be successful, I have to look at it for the long-term. I’ve changed my diet and joined a health club, and I’m giving it A YEAR before I re-evaluate. Two weeks isn’t enough time to see any changes…tell yourself that you’re going to stick it out, through good and bad, until this time next year…I believe that, by giving yourself the gift of time, you’ll see encouraging results.
Hi,
Last year about this time I realized I needed to loose weight. One place I went to-where I found out what my BMI was- 4’11, 209,used shakes as a weight loss method. No food, only shakes. I was shocked about the BMI and understood the urgency to lose weight. The next place talked about lap-band surgery.I was concerned about having surgery, but was considering it.Meanwhile I changed what and how I ate,and walked every day. Mid Nov. I got down to 186.My kids were home for winter break, holidays and snow got in the way of walking. Anyway I am 195 now. I saw an ad for a Dr. who uses the HCG diet, which is why I asked you about it. I recently turned 50 and it is harder to lose weight than when I was younger. I don’t drink pop. I am working on drinking more water.Do you have other ideas?
6 reasons why you may be having trouble loosing weight
By Dr John Ellis MD
Unfortunately, it takes changing lifestyle to lose weight. Willpower alone will not get it.
You drink soda and/or juice every day; diet soda no exception.
You eat prepared foods, loaded with sugar / fat / salt.
You don’t get enough sleep (> 7 hrs for most adults)
You don’t get enough ROUTINE physical activity (walking to the grocery store, taking the stairs at work, etc).
You don’t eat breakfast.
You watch hours upon hours of TV.
Try not watching TV for a week. Use that time to go for a walk with a friend of family member.

Congrats Dr. Ellis, I try to eat a vegan menu plan. I lost about 5-7lbs in one month, by just eliminating meat from my menu. The foods are good, easy to prepare and satisfying. A good bookstore will have good cookbooks for cooking vegan.
