5 hrs of sleep a night makes young men look like diabetics

A week of sleep deprivation causes young men to handle sugar like diabetics, according to a new study in the journal Diabetes.

CONCLUSIONS Sleep restriction (5 h/night) for 1 week significantly reduces insulin sensitivity, raising concerns about effects of chronic insufficient sleep on disease processes associated with insulin resistance.

Many of us don’t get ENOUGH sleep.  Other don’t get GOOD QUALITY sleep, often because sleep apnea is common in obese people.

Sleep is not a luxury – it is vitally important to good health!
